Day 1: Arrive in Uganda at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to Ibanda at your booked hotel or campsite.

Day 2: Transfer from Hotel to Ibanda, then hike from Ibanda to Omu’ka Kizza Rest Camp.

Day 3: You will hike from Omu’Ka Kizza Rest camp to Mahoma Lake.

Day 4: Transfer from Mahoma Lake back to Ibanda and drive back to Entebbe for your flight.

Detailed itinerary 4 days Mountain Rwenzori trekking safari Uganda via the Mahoma Trail

Day 1: Arrive in Uganda at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to Ibanda at your booked hotel or campsite.

You will arrive at the airport in Entebbe where our Uganda safari guide will be waiting to pick you up. Upon arrival, you will be briefed by your guide about your journey and your 3 days Mountain Rwenzori trekking safari Uganda. After the briefing, you will transfer to Ibanda in southwestern Uganda for a distance of about 6 hours via the Kampala Mubende Fort portal road. Arrive in Ibanda at your prior booked accommodation in mountain Rwenzori National Park for your dinner and overnight.

Day 2 of the 4 days Mountain Rwenzori trekking safari Uganda via the Mahoma Trail- From Ibanda to Omu’ka Kizza Rest Camp (2.977 m)

After your early morning breakfast at your Hotel / Campsite in Ibanda, you and your driver guide will transfer the starting point. This day hiking starts at Ibanda taking you through the Rwenzori ranges. While trekking, you will pass through a heavy untouched rainforest on the Kyambogho ridge having great views of the Mubuku Valley. As part of this day’s experience, during your hike on this ridge, expect to see the Rwenzori turaco, primates including black and white colobus monkey, blue monkey and occasionally the L’hoest monkey and chimpanzees. Arrive at Omu’ka Kizza Rest Camp situated in wilderness at about 2,977 metres. While at this camp, you will enjoy magnificent views of the Rwenzori foothills and Kasese town at about 2,160 metres below. Rest at your camp until the next day.

Day 3 of the 4 days Mountain Rwenzori trekking safari Uganda via the Mahoma Trail: From Omu’Ka Kizza Rest camp to Mahoma Lake

Early in the morning after your breakfast, you will trek to Mahoma Lake. This day two trek will take you through an incredibly beautiful forest of giant heather covered in layers of bright green moss following mountain Elephants footprints through the bamboo. This will give you chance to watch the elephants drink water at the hot spring in found within the forest. On this same ridge that rises upto about 3,515 meters will lead you to the Rukenga valley where you will spot everlasting flowers (mimulopsis eliotti) and the giant lobelia. You will then cross to Mahoma lake Camp for your dinner and overnight. In the morning, if the sky is clear, you may be able to see Mt.Baker, Mt.Stanley and the Portal Peaks from the camp.

Day 4 of the 4 days Mountain Rwenzori trekking safari Uganda via the Mahoma Trail– Mahoma Lake to Ibanda and back drive back to Kampala

After breakfast you will go for a brief nature walk around Mahoma lake, after the walk, you will descend back through Nyabitaba ranger post and the Mpanga ridge connecting to the Mubuku valley, a home of three horned chameleon leading you back to Ibanda. You will be rewarded a certificate for hiking and then drive back to Kampala.
